Back from CKC Mesa & ScrapTiffany Blog Hop Winner

LifeofCarrs.com-Easter-Bunny-and-Nicholas.jpg

The winner of my drawing from last weeks ScrapTiffany blog hop is posted below. I got back from the best CKC scrapbook convention ever Saturday night. The rest of the weekend was super busy too....

Sunday we took the boys to the Garden Railroad Train Tour and came home to have my computer crash on me, Mike had to take it to Best Buy to get it fixed for me.

I had Monday off of work, so after Nicholas got out school we went to see the Easter Bunny (Jackson would not go near him)

We dyed Easter Eggs in the afternoon...
It was a great long weekend, that ended with Nicholas waking up in the middle of the night Monday with the stomach flu, and me feeling sick too. But all in all it was a great weekend, and I think Nicholas was already feeling better this evening.

Here's a quick recap of the convention.  I will have a full review of my classes after I finish up my projects in the next couple of weeks.

This year's convention was....

Having 2 fun filled days with 2 fabulous friends (and another in spirit, who was home with her sick baby)....

Taking 8 awesome classes with 5 fabulous teachers, making 16 fun layouts, a mini book and 2 cards that I love....

Meeting 3 superstar Studio Calico girls (Lorie, Nicole H and Kelly Purkey)....
Receiving a few great giveaways....
Shopping....lots and lots of shopping....
Here is a recap of my shopping finds
Just when I thought I had all the Studio Calico goodness I could ever need....(okay I didn't really think that)....I of course did some stocking up at the SC booth.
A great deal found on a Slice cartridge, an awesome Fancy Pants book for altering, the one Distress Ink color I did not own....

Some new Basic Grey. A cute Easter altered project

And some Glitz Design goodies those brown woodgrain mini letters that I had been coveting, circle stamps I was drooling over, and my favorite Glitz line ever....

I have been going to the CKC Mesa show for years, and this was definitely the best all around show. The vendor fair was awesome, there was a good selection of shopping and a much improved selection of newer products. The classes we took had awesome teachers and great layouts that we loved.

And finally, I have drawn a winner from last week's ScrapTiffany blog hop.

ScrapTiffany Recycled Blog Hop

Welcome to the ScrapTiffany Recycled Blog Hop! I am your first stop and I am so excited you are joining us!20110410-_DSC2281 You should be arriving here from the ScrapTiffanyblog.  If you have landed here first, head on back to the ScrapTiffany blog to start hopping!

We are all going to have some fun with Recycling today and tomorrow.  I used to own a scrapbook kit club, and we would often split products for our kits. One month we used chipboard from My Mind’s Eye that came in these buckets that looked so cute filled with glittered chipboard shapes.

20110409-DSC07724 I ended up with tons of these and it seemed so wasteful to just toss them, so for the past 2 years they have been recycled in several different ways for fun little gifts. This seemed like the perfect item to dress up for Easter with a bit of papers I didn’t plan to use and a few tools from my stash.

Weekend update and scrappy stuff...

Basket.jpg
How did it get to be Wednesday night already? I guess with the release of the now sold out Color Me Daisy April Spring Fever kit and putting the finishing touches on the Idea Guide for the kit together the past few nights, I've been a bit busy.  I know I haven't been sleeping much.
We had a fun and busy Easter weekend. I spent almost all day Friday scrapping, it was delicious!  Then Saturday we were preparing eggs for dyeing, deviling eggs, whipping up strawberry vinaigrette for our Easter salad, baking hash brown casserole and decorating this scrumptious cake with a raspberry filling:
I got the idea for the cake from some Easter basket cupcakes I had seen while surfing the internet a couple of weeks ago. But honestly I wasn't interested in decorating that many little cupcakes. So I made a 2 layer white cake and the most yummy raspberry filling ever. I colored the frosting and coconut green and decorated the cake top with a bunny, peeps, jelly beans and malted eggs.  But I still needed a basket. So I grabbed my favorite Martha Stewart Border Punch and the Fiskars Apron Lace Punch and whipped up this basket using the Spring Fever kit scraps. It took about 10 minutes and it was just plain fun!
Other highlights from the weekend...
Nicholas had a ball dyeing the Easter eggs. He did a great job and was only medium messy.
We left a note and some jelly beans for the Easter Bunny and he delivered well...
Nicholas really got the idea of baskets and goodies and egg hunting this year and loved his new sporty toys.
Jackson is still a bit overwhelmed by the holidays, but he did manage to eat some goldfish and M&M's from his basket before breakfast.
I have a lot of scrappy stuff to share with you, but since it is getting late I'll leave it to one for tonight.
This one has some of my favorite things from the April Color Me Daisy kit...fabric, Jillibean Soup Corrugated Alphas and Pink Paislee Artisan Frames. I misted the alphas and frame with Maya Mist and love the splattered look for my little artist.  I layered the fabric after fraying the edges over packaging from the Pink Paislee ribbon pleats in the kit. I used the Artisan tape to give an anchor to the title of my layout and I cut the Pink Paislee flip notes in half to border the tops of my photos.
I'll be back tomorrow night with some more scrappy stuff as well as some pictures from the Picture Spring class I am taking at Big Picture Scrapbooking.

All the eggs in one basket...

Egg-Hunt.jpg

Nicholas found all but 1 egg during the egg hunt today. Jackson couldn't care less about looking for eggs. He found one and just threw it then moved on to other more important things (throwing his other toys all over the yard).

Nicholas looks pretty proud of himself in this picture. He did well with the assistance from bear (in his left hand) and Nana R and Nana C.
